Simply because it is so simple and definitely delightful, this Simply Delightful Cranberry Salad is a charming addition to Christmas or other holiday meals.
In years past, I recall the side dishes being my favorite at holiday gatherings. This has not changed. My eyes still dance about the decorative table, in search of the delicious gems scattered about. In fact, it is not unusual for me to order a vegetable plate when we go out for a meal.
If I am being completely off course (no pun intended, well … maybe now that I had the thought) I will go straight for a dessert instead of choosing a main course at all. Come on now, I’m sure I am not the only one to choose a dietary veer from time to time.
The first time I made this super simple cranberry salad, I could not believe the positive reactions it brought about. Isn’t cranberry salad one of those dishes not everyone goes for, so you choose to not make as much as, let’s say, macaroni and cheese?! Not the case this time! It was a crowd-pleaser! Seriously, this is ridiculously simple. This particular version only uses three ingredients! 1. 2. 3. Done! I could not believe how well it went over! Sure, you can complicate it if you choose to by adding cool whip, Jello, or whatever tickles your creative tastebuds. However, I was perfectly okay with trying a 1, 2, 3 version and moving on to the other foods to make that day.
What are you waiting for? Let’s get cooking! I mean ‘kind of’ cooking. Okay, not cooking at all this time! Go grab these ingredients and dump them in a bowl!
Ingredients
· 2 15-ounces cans whole cranberries (in sauce)
· 2 14-ounces cans mandarin oranges (drained)
· 1 cup walnuts or pecans (chopped)
Step 1: Gently mix all ingredients together. (Voila! 😉)
Really. Simply and gently mix cranberry sauce, canned mandarin oranges, and chopped nuts together. Simple and beautiful! Serve at any gathering and watch the wows!
